BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are looking for a suspect accused of breaking into three businesses in Burlington and stealing various items including a travel trailer.
Burlington police said they were notified of a burglar alarm shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday at 1808 Anthony Road.
Officers at the scene found that somebody had broken into FJORD, Inc., 1808 Anthony Road, Suite 103; Ink Splash, 1808 Anthony Road, Suite 105; and 1808 Anthony Road, Suite 106.
The suspect allegedly broke into the businesses by breaking out the front glass doors.
Computers and computer equipment were stolen, along with a small heating and air conditioning unit, according to police.
A 7-by-12-foot white travel trailer with softball equipment inside was also taken from the parking lot. The trailer displayed the words “Carolina NSA.”
Business owners said surveillance footage shows the crook breaking into the businesses for more than an hour. The thief ran off with the stolen merchandise after tripping one of the alarm systems.
The Burlington Police Department described the suspect in the following detail in a statement provided to the media:
During the investigation, surveillance video in the area captured a white work style van in the parking lot prior to the offenses. The suspect van is unique in that on the passenger side of the van there are windows down the side of the vehicle. The driver’s side does not have these windows and the cargo area is enclosed. The van has a ladder rack and a large PVC tube on top, as typically seen in the transportation of copper piping or conduit. The surveillance depicted a lone individual believed to be 5’8” tall to 5’10” tall committing the crimes.
