Storm damage, power outages reported as storms roll through Piedmont Triad

Thousands of Duke Energy customers are without power as storms rolled through the Piedmont Triad. According to the Duke Energy outage map, the following counties have over 1,000 reported outages as of 9 p.m. Tuesday:
  • Forsyth – 1,375
  • Rockingham – 1,330
Crews are still assessing the damage and there is no word on when power will be restored. Trees are down and some roads are blocked in multiple Triad counties. A large tree fell on a pickup truck in the 2900 block of Old Salisbury Road in Winston-Salem, according to Winston-Salem police. The people in the truck were not hurt. The road was blocked for several hours while crews removed the tree and has since reopened.
