Power restored to thousands in the Piedmont after storms

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Power has been restored to thousands in the Piedmont after a storm on Friday.

More than 2,000 Duke Energency customers in Guilford County had been without power, but all but about 385 of those outages had been restored as of about 9 p.m.

Power is expected to be fully restored by about 11:15 p.m. Outages were first reported at 2:42 p.m.

Outages in Forsyth and Rockingham counties were nearly restored by Friday night.

Buncombe County to the west faced the largest number of outages in the state with more than 26,000 customers affected.
