Thomasville police investigating armed robbery of business

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at the La Acapulquena on Friday.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., a man entered the bakery, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen as he walked out of the business.

A K-9 track was unsuccessful.

The suspect was described as looking Hispanic, between 5 feet and 5 feet 5 inches tall, and having a heavy build.

The suspect was wearing a black toboggan, light gray zippered jacket with a hood and light colored blue jeans at the time of the incident.

The victim also stated the suspect had gold and silver tinsel wrapped over his mouth and appeared to have drawn dark colored dots on his cheeks to further conceal his identity.

The victim’s wife and 5-year-old child was present during the robbery but were not injured. There were no customers inside the business.
