Thomasville man throws fire cracker at mobile home, starts fire

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A man was arrested on the Fourth of July after throwing a fire cracker at a mobile home, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to 1116-4 Lacey Helper Road in reference to a mobile home fire.

Upon arrival, they spoke with Mary Sure Slayton who reported 47-year-old Brian Keith Baity of 337 Goble Road, Thomasville, had possibly tried to set her mobile home on fire.

After further investigation, deputies learned Baity had thrown a fire cracker at the back of the mobile home, causing $1,600 worth of damage.

Baity was arrested and charged with second-degree arson. Baity is in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.  He is scheduled to appear in court on July 28.
