RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A Thomasville man is charged with murder in the early Monday stabbing death of his brother-in-law.

In a news release, Randolph County depuites said they responded to 3039 Builders Drive in Thomasville around 1 a.m.

Deputies said Brown was involved in a fight with Rodney Lee Richardson when Brown was hit in the head with a flashlight.  Brown told investigators that he retaliated by stabbing Richardson, who was found at the scene with a single stab wound to the abdomen, deputies said.

Richardson was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, deputies said.  Richardson shared the same residence with Brown, according to deputies.

Brown is being held in the Randolph County Jail without bond.  He is expected to hear his charges in court later today.
