FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas police say a 66-year-old man died in his house Sunday with more than 70 snakes in carriers surrounding him.

The Star-Telegram reports that one of David Blody’s friends traveled from Colorado to check on him and found him dead.

Even though the snakes look suspicious, authorities believe he died of natural causes.

“It does not seem that the snakes were all over the home,” Officer Tamara Pena said, according to Star-Telegram. “Family members arrived and took custody of the snakes.”

Blody worked in the Fort Worth Zoo’s reptile department in the 1980s and early 90s.

The investigation is ongoing.
