A British teenager recently shared his story of “selfie addiction” that almost turned out to be fatal.

Danny Bowman, 19, says his life spiraled out of control in two years because of his obsession with taking selfies.

He would post all his photos to Facebook, and said, “I would be so high when someone wrote something nice but gutted when they wrote something unkind.”

Bowman’s selfie addiction even led to a suicide attempt, when he tried to kill himself after being unable to take the “perfect selfie,” according to the Mirror. He attempted to overdose but was saved by his mom.

Bowman says he has now gone seven months without taking a selfie and says he will never wind up in the same situation again.
