17-year-old injured in stabbing in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A teen was injured in a stabbing in Winston-Salem Friday afternoon, according to Winston-Salem police.

The stabbing happened in front of Crystal Towers on the sidewalk along Sixth Street around 1:15 p.m.

The teen, identified as 17-year-old Oscar Mendez-Rodriguez, drove himself to Wake Forest Baptist Health Downtown Health Plaza.

Mendez-Rodriguez was later taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he is being treated for non-life-threatening wounds.

No one is in custody.

Winston-Salem police said the incident does not appear to be random and the involved parties knew each other.
