GLENDORA, Calif. — A 13-year-old boy suspected of setting a display full of stuffed animals on fire at a 24-hour Walmart in Glendora was arrested early Wednesday, police said.

Surveillance video allegedly captured the teen grabbing a lighter from an aisle containing Christmas decorations before igniting the blaze, according to a Facebook post from the Glendora Police Department.

The blaze, which KTLA reported occurred about 12:20 a.m. in the 1900 block of Auto Center Drive, was put out by a customer with a fire extinguisher, police said.

Damage was limited to the stuffed toys and the display.

One employee had to be taken to the hospital after experiencing shortness of breath “due to the large amount of smoke in the store,” the post stated. The unidentified person was treated and released.

Police arrested the teen in the Walmart parking lot, where he was waiting with his family for the store to reopen.

The fire remained under investigation.
