GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Guilford County sheriff’s deputies continue to search for armed robbery suspects responsible for the death of 57-year-old Vann Yates.

Thursday Guilford County sheriff’s deputies and High Point police performed an hour-long checkpoint along Fairfield Drive and Highway 62 asking drivers if they knew anything about Yates death.

Tuesday, two armed robberies were reported to the High Point Police Department on Prospect Street and East Springfield Road.

Captain Mike Kirk with High Point police and Colonel Randy Powers said the suspect descriptions and scenario closely match that of the attempted armed robbery involving Yates and could be related.

Wendy Talent was held at gunpoint in her car on Prospect Street Tuesday around 5:30 p.m.

Though Talent says the robbers did not get away with any of her belongings she said they took away her sense of security.

"I just remember looking in his face, in his eyes and begging please do not shoot me and for some reason he didn't," Talent said.

Talent said investigators also told her the robberies could be related.

"I'm sorry for that family of the victim but I hope they're caught and they get the justice they deserve," Talent said.
