Suspect in Burlington jewelry store robbery caught on tape

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police are looking for a man accused of robbing a jewelry store at gunpoint Wednesday night in Burlington.

Police said the suspect robbed Kay Jewelers at 1007 Boston Drive around 8:53 p.m. minutes before the store was set to close.

Police said the suspect was inside the store for about 20 minutes before the robbery.He told store employee's he had a gun. Police said the robber got away with gold necklaces and rings worth hundreds of dollars each.

Police said he stuffed all of the items in Foot Locker bag. It's believed the robber was at that store just moments before. Police said the man ran off on foot after receiving the jewelry an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a white man, 35-40 years old, about 6” and weighing 250-260 pounds with brown hair. He reportedly had jean shorts, a T-shirt, white tennis shoes and sunglasses on top of his head.
