FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. -- An attempted home invasion turned deadly on Monday morning in Forsyth County, according to Chief Deputy Brad Stanley.

At about 4:30 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to the 4800 block of Grakeintemple Court regarding a report of a break-in in progress.

While deputies were responding to the scene, the 911 caller said someone had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man lying on the front porch of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. EMS units arrived and pronounced the man deceased.

Four adults in the residence were interviewed by investigators.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Barry Dail Shinault, of Mount Airy.

Stanley said there have been recent allegations against Shinault, where he has allegedly committed criminal acts toward the occupants of the residence.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
