Suspect shoots North Carolina officer at jail

DURHAM, N.C. — Police say a North Carolina officer has been shot by a suspect he had just brought to the county jail.

Durham police spokesman Wil Glenn said that the shooting happened around 4 a.m. Monday, and the officer suffered minor injuries.

It was not immediately clear how the suspect obtained the gun.

Glenn says the officer was treated and released from a hospital. The names of those involved haven’t been released.
