STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — The robbery suspect shot and killed in the Friday officer-involved shooting in Pinnacle has been identified.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, the man was identified as 30-year-old Lee Aaron Gerston by a family member.
The family member told the SBI that Gerston grew up in California but had recently moved to the Knoxville, Tenn., area.
The family member said Gerston was taking a friend to a drug rehabilitation center in Virginia. It is unknown to investigators or the family why Gerston was in Stokes County.
Gerston was shot and killed following a robbery at a Pinnacle business and subsequent standoff at a nearby home on Friday evening.
The SBI is continuing their investigation.
