Suspect arrested in Rockingham County school break-in, theft facing new charges

WENTWORTH, N.C. — A man who was wanted in connection with a school break-in that happened in mid-January was arrested Wednesday and is now facing new charges.

Jeremy Lee Mabe, 39, of 691 Janet Road in Stoneville, was arrested Wednesday around 3 p.m.

Mabe was originally wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection with a break-in and theft that happened on Jan. 18 at McMichael High School, which is located at 6845 N.C. 135 in Mayodan.

Since his arrest, Rockingham County Sheriff’s deputies have charged Mabe in connection with two similar incidents.

Mabe is now facing charges for a breaking and entering and theft that happened on Jan. 17 at Huntsville Elementary School, which is located at 2020 Sardis Church Road in Madison. He is also facing the same charges for an incident that happened on Jan. 16 at  House of Starts, located at 3130 U.S. 220 in Madison.

Mabe was placed in the Rockingham County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 15.
