HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a hit and run that injured four children last month.

Two 15-year-olds, an 11-year-old and an 8-year-old were walking on Cedrow Drive around 4:15 p.m. on May 24. The children were walking with their backs to traffic, according to the police report.

A 2002-2004 Lincoln LS traveling north struck two of the children. Police believe the other two children were injured when their bodies collided with the two children struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle did not slow down or stop, according to the report.

All four children were taken to High Point Regional by ambulance. One children required facial reconstruction surgery as a result of the accident.

Teriqueka Cucrera, 15, says she vaguely remembers what happened.

"I thought I just fell asleep. I woke up and I was in the ambulance," Cucrera said.

The suspect, Micarlos Rayshaw Pemberton, 30, of High Point, and his vehicle was located in the 100 block of Manor Drive on Tuesday.

Pemberton was arrested and charged with four counts of felony hit and run.

He is in the High Point Jail under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
