Surry County man charged with DWI in connection with wife’s ATV death

SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — A Surry County man is facing charges in connection with an ATV crash that killed his wife Sunday.

Jonathan Lee Dalton, 38, of Pilot Mountian, is charged with driving while impaired and operating a four-wheeler on a street or highway, according to Sgt. J.M. Church.

Church said Dalton was driving an ATV along Gilley Road around 4 p.m. when it overturned.

His wife, 46-year-old Rose Wilson Dalton, was a passenger and died at the scene.

Church said the neither were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Johnathan Dalton was not injured.

An autopsy will be performed on Rose Dalton at Wake Forest Baptist.
