GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Police are investigating a string of robberies in Greensboro that officials said were all reported around a similar time span.
Police said four robberies were reported between 10:04 p.m. Saturday and 12:59 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities said the first robbery occurred South Mendenhall Street near West McGee Street when a man walking said he was approached by two men claiming they were armed.
The second robbery was reported around 10:32 p.m. when police said two people said they were walking in the 1700 block of Walker Avenue when two men approached them demanding money.
Police said the third robbery was reported around 10:33 p.m. after a man said he was walking on Spring Garden Street and S. Elam Avenue and was also approached by two men demanding money.
Officials said the fourth robbery involved two people walking on Sullivan Street near Circle Drive when they were approached by four men demanding money.
Ian McDowell said two men tried robbing him, but he did not take them seriously, so he kept his money.
"These two young guys stepped out of the shadows," he said. "He said turn around, stand still and empty your pockets. He slapped his side like he had gun."
Police did not say if the four robberies are related. Complete descriptions during the alleged robberies were not provided.
