Storms roll into Triad; police warn, ‘Please do not drive through high water’

Storms hit the Piedmont Triad Wednesday afternoon.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued Wednesday afternoon for parts of Guilford, Randolph, Alamance, Chatham and Orange counties until 2 p.m.

Tom Britt of the FOX8 Max Weather Center said the storms are expected to clear out by that time.

Burlington police warned drivers in the areas of South Church Street, West Fifth Street and Huffman Mill Road to be cautious due to flooding in the area.

“Please do not drive through high water,” police said in a tweet.
