STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — Taylor Watts of King says she was inside her home when the storm swept through Sunday night, around 6:30.
“There was a big boom, and looked outside, and we saw trees falling down,” Watts said.
Watts’ family was home at the time and spent hours cleaning up the damage. Fallen trees and broken branches littered their front yard. The storm also knocked out their power and damaged siding to the house.
About 1,000 power outages in the King area were reported following the storm. There were no reports of injuries.
The majority of the damage was in the Meadowbrook Drive and Westmoreland Road area of King.
