Stokes County paramedic seriously injured in wreck

SANDY RIDGE, N.C. — A paramedic was seriously injured when a driver ran a stop sign and caused a collision involving an ambulance.

The wreck happened at 7:32 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Sheppard Mill and Moir Farm roads in Stokes County, Highway Patrol Sgt. J.M. Church said.

The trooper said paramedics Fred Lawson and Josh Booker were on their way back to their base from an emergency call when a driver ran a stop sign. The ambulance struck the side of the vehicle.
