Stokes Co. man charged with sexually abusing a child

KING, N.C. — A 71-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a child over a period of seven years was arrested Thursday at his home in King.

Roby Gean Davis was charged with six counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and five counts of indecent liberties with a minor, the Winston-Salem Police Department said.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred from 2000 to 2007 in Winston-Salem. Police said they started investigating in December 2011, after the boy’s family reported the allegations.

Davis was placed in the Forsyth County Jail under a $1 million bond and has court planned for June 29.
