GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Parents of more than 70,000 students here in the Piedmont will learn more about what is going on in their schools.
Tonight is Guilford County's yearly “State of Our Schools” event at the Carolina Theater.
Superintendent Mo Green says there is a lot to go over, a wide range of highlights and some concerns. He says what he is most excited to share is the latest about the "Say Yes" Initiative. That's a program in the Northeast that helps kids pay for college. GCS is a top contender for the program to come here.
"Assuming conversations go well, in a positive way, then students could have access to last dollar tuition scholarships," Green said.
Green says he will also go into details about budget concerns and what changes the school system has made since the sales tax referendum didn't pass in November.
