Skateboarder injured in Burlington crash

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police said a skateboarder was injured after colliding with a sport utility vehicle Friday afternoon in Burlington.

Burlington police said 23-year-old Christopher Wayne McKean was listed in stable condition Friday night at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Police said McKean was skateboarding south on Maple Avenue toward Quintas Avenue when he collided with a 1996 Toyota Forerunner shortly before 6 p.m.

The 68-year-old male driver of the Toyota told police the collision happened after he turned right onto Maple Avenue from Quintas Aveue.

The driver said he did not see the victim and they collided on Maple Avenue. The driver was not injured.
