Shots fired near officers pumping gas in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police have detained three or four people after shots were fired near officers pumping gas at City Yard on Thursday night, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

No officers appear to be injured, but the shots struck a building at City Yard on Rams Drive. As many as 10 to 15 shots were fired in the incident, which occurred about 8:45, police said. Police have seized three weapons, officials said.

Police quickly converged on the area, blocking off access from U.S. 52 to Rams Drive and much of Salem Avenue.

Officers have set up a command center at the Gateway YWCA off Main Street.
