BURLINGTON, N.C. – A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting and injuring three people at a Burlington nightclub.

Jean Christopher Jerez, 26, of Burlington, faces two counts of attempted murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Police said the suspect shot three people shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday at Club Tsunami at 2398 D Corporation Parkway.

Police said two of the victims were taken to a hospital and are listed in stable condition, while the third has been treated and released from Alamance Regional Medical Center.

An off-duty officer in the area heard the gunshots and called in the situation, according to authorities.

The suspect was allegedly in some kind of verbal altercation with one of the victims and they started fighting. At some point, he allegedly shot the victims.

Police have not said why they were fighting or what the relationship between the suspect and victims was.

The suspect left before police arrived, but was found later in the day, according to officials. He also faces one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jerez was placed in the Alamance County Jail without bond.
