SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — Severe weather is causing major flooding in Surry County.
Park Drive near Mount Airy is barricaded off about 100 feet in both directions to prevent anyone from driving through about 6 inches of water on the roadway.
In addition, the bridge near Rockford Street, over the Yadkin River, was shut down for a few hours because of the flooding.
The Surry EMS director said there is a lot of flooding in the western, eastern and southern parts of the county.
Flash flooding overnight caused problems in about 20 spots across the county.
NCDOT will be working to remove debris from the flash flooding on Monday.
The EMS director said the flooding will only get worse as the rain continues.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid any areas where water is covering the roadway.
