GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Greensboro police and Guilford County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a string of recent smash-and-grab burglaries at area businesses.

Investigators do not know if the crimes are related, but in each case, suspects used bricks or large rocks to gain entry to the property.

Monday night, Greensboro police say two break-ins occurred at Subway restaurants. One is located on Spring Garden Street and the other is on Gate City Boulevard. A computer store on Hicone Road, Tech Source Computers, was also broken into overnight.

Greensboro police say two other Subway locations were hit on July 20.

The owner of Tech Source Computers, Jason Beal, says burglars stole six laptops and several smartphones. He hopes people in the community will take extra precautions after hearing about the recent break-ins.

Beal plans to upgrade his alarm system, so he has instant motion sensors in the future.

“The intruders, by the time they busted the window and left, they did it all in three minutes. It's really quick. If you have a 30-second delay on your alarm, they're already here and gone by the time dispatch even notifies the sheriff's department,” said Beal.

Police have not released information about what was stolen from the Subway restaurants.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the crimes to contact Crime Stoppers.
