Seagrove pottery shop owner’s death being investigated as murder

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. -- Deputies in Moore County are investigating a man's death as a murder.

Kit Vanderwal was a potter who owned a shop in Seagrove.

Firefighters responded to his home in Moore County early Saturday morning. The fire destroyed both his home and his nearby pottery studio.

Investigators have not said how Vanderwal died but said autopsy results led them to rule his death a murder.

Deputies have not identified any suspects in the case.

An investigation is ongoing.
