WASHINGTON — Fox News and the New York Post are both reporting the shooter in the Connecticut elementary school shooting has been identified as Adam Lanza, 20.

Initial reports indicated the shooter was 24-year-old Ryan Lanza, however Fox News said the shooter is Ryan Lanza’s brother, Adam Lanza.

At this hour, there are still conflicting reports of the exact identity of the shooter. Multiple reports suggest the shooter, Adam Lanza, was carrying his brother’s ID.

The Associated Press is reporting an official said the suspect’s girlfriend and another friend are missing in New Jersey.

Adam Lanza, 20, shot his mother dead and targeted her kindergarten class at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., sources said. Sources also told The Post that Lanza’s mother was a teacher at the school and he “had a dispute with her.”

28 people are dead, including 20 children, 8 adults and the shooter (Adam Lanza).

Police in Hoboken, NJ are questioning Lanza’s older brother Ryan, 24, but he is not a suspect.

According to CNN, a federal law enforcement source tells John Kingthe shooter arrived and headed directly toward and to his mother’s classroom. Officials believe his mother was the primary target. However, they note he came “armed with clear intention of mass killing.”

Three guns were found at the scene, CNN’s Susan Candiotti reports. According to a law enforcement source, the third weapon found on the scene was a .223 Bushmaster. The other weapons, previously reported, are a Glock, and a Sig-Sauer. No word on the models of Glock or Sig-Sauer.

The official in Washington spoke on the condition of anonymity because the source was not authorized to speak on the record about the developing criminal investigation.

At least 27 people were killed on Friday when a shooter allegedly opened fire inside an elementary school in Connecticut, according to the Associated Press.

18 of those victims are children.

An official, speaking on condition of anonymity for the same reason, told the Associated Press the gunman is among the dead.

The killings happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, about 60 miles northeast of New York City.
