BAMBERG, S.C. — A 17-year-old South Carolina boy is facing assault charges after school bus video shows him slapping a 5-year-old girl on Aug. 25.

Police say Tavon Walters, a high school student, was riding the bus from school to an after-school program when the incident occurred, according to WRDW.

The bus video shows Walters grab another student’s hand and use it to hit Jazmyn Peters.

“He had reached over that seat and telling another girl if you don’t hit her then I’m going to hit her for you,” said Jazmyn’s father Terry Peters.

The intent is currently unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

Walters turned himself in on Tuesday and was given a $1,000 bond.
