BURLINGTON, N.C. — A school bus was involved in an accident in Burlington on Monday afternoon.
Police say the accident happened in the 2100 block of North Church Street near Hursey’s Bar-B-Q at about 4:06 p.m.
The school bus had just picked up children from Broadview Middle School and Cummings High School and was traveling north on Sellars Mill Road. The bus was attempting to make a left turn onto North Church Street when it was struck by a 2006 Ford F-250 that was traveling east on North Church Street.
The F-250 then struck a 1996 Honda Accord that was stationary on North Church Street waiting for the light to turn.
Two students on the bus were transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
The driver of the F-250, Christy Staley, 43, of Burlington, and her daughter, who was a passenger in the truck, were also transported to ARMC with minor injuries.
Staley was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light.
Damage to the school bus is estimated at $15,000; damage to the F-250 is estimated at $20,000; and damage to the Honda Accord is estimated at $1,000.
