MADERA RANCHOS, Calif. -- A white pony dressed as a unicorn led California officers on a police chase as it darted in and out of traffic for hours Wednesday night.

According to KPNX, the pony named Juliette first tried to run away from a child's birthday party around 2:30 p.m.

Juliette was able to get away at about 5:30 p.m. She was seen darting in and out of traffic on Avenue 12 from about Road 33 all the way to Road 35.

“The calls were coming in as a unicorn running around out there on the roadway,” said Joshua McConnell with California Highway Patrol.

California Highway Patrol was able to locate the frisky pony in an orchard several hours later. A nearby resident helped officers approach and capture her.

“The call came out ‘the unicorn was in custody’ and I think as tense as the situation was I think it was the comedic relief. That was needed at the time and I laughed, and I cried, and I thanked God,” said Sandra Boos, Juliette’s owner.

With nobody hurt, it was a fairy tale ending for the pony, but, according to Sandra's daughter, Tatum, she has some explaining to do.

“She got a time out because she was being a bad pony,” Tatum said.
