ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. -- Starting Thurdsay, there will be two buses a part of the new SKAT bus routes which will cover Mayodan, Madison and Stoneville.

County leaders say the goal of the new routes is to give people without cars, or who are too old to drive, more ways to get around in western Rockingham County.

The two new buses are being funded through a federal grant.

One bus will hold up to 15 passengers, the other will hold 18. Both buses will have wheelchair areas and run from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Each bus will run one-hour circuits.

The new routes will connect riders from western Rockingham County to Eden and Reidsville.

Altogether the county now has six SKAT buses, with two already in Eden and two more in Reidsville.
