ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. – A 17-year-old guitarist from Rockingham County recently played in the 32nd International Blues Challenge in Memphis after winning a youth competition in Greensboro.

Seth Williams recently participated in the large blues event in Memphis, which took place from Jan. 26 to Jan. 30. He also won a competition at the Blind Tiger in Greensboro in October.

“It was an amazing experience,” Williams said, referring to the event in Memphis.

Williams said he has been playing guitar for about five years, but has been doing it seriously for about two years.

He said music goes “deep in the soul” and allows you to “show people what you’re about.” His music can be described as southern rock with blues, folk and country.

Williams said he is currently working on an album and enjoys playing shows in the area.

“I love playing for people,” he said. “It’s something I really enjoy.”
