WILMINGTON, N.C. – Riley LaRue, the son of former Wake Forest University basketball player Rusty LaRue, has died.
Riley LaRue was listed as a freshman on last year’s basketball roster at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington. He graduated from East Forsyth High School.
Several people close to the Wake Forest basketball program have been sending condolences to the LaRue family.
A source close to the West Forsyth basketball program confirmed his death.
Details surrounding the circumstances of Riley LaRue’s death have not been released. The Winston-Salem Journal is reporting that he died in a car crash.
Rusty LaRue is the basketball coach at West Forsyth High School. He once played for the Chicago Bulls team that won the 1998 National Basketball Association championship.
“Prayers to the LaRue family and rest in peace Riley,” posted one person on Twitter.
“Rip Riley Larue, absolutely unbelievable,” wrote another.
