CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Carowinds ride got stuck for the third time in three weeks on Saturday, this time happening to the park’s newest and tallest ride.

WSOC reported that the Fury 325 became stuck mid-air for about 20 minutes just after 7 p.m. A sensor detected a problem and stopped the ride as a safety feature, according to the official.

The passengers were let off at the stairs. No injuries were reported.

Carowinds blamed the safety system for the past two problems with rides. Last week the WindSeeker stopped, dangling riders 150 feet in the air. The weekend before, the Flying Ace Aerial Chase also stranded riders.

Fury 325 is a thrill ride that stands 325 feet with an 81-degree initial drop and reaches speeds of 95 mph. It opened last month and is being called the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster.
