Report: Obama considers Charlotte’s Mayor Foxx for cabinet job

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — President Obama is considering Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx for secretary of transportation, according to Bloomberg News.

Foxx who was first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2011, has been a proponent of both the light rail and streetcar projects in Charlotte.

Current secretary of transportation Ray LaHood announced in January that he will be leaving the post once a successor is chosen.

Obama is considering other candidates as well.
