WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- This weekend's unstable forecast has companies that rent outdoor equipment staying busy helping multiple outdoor event planners prepare for a wet, cool, cloudy weekend.

Hauser Rentals in Winston-Salem says in just the past few days the requests for heaters, rain tents, and side panels for shade tents have more than doubled.

Jon Stewart, Hauser Sales Manager, said normally May is more about wedding supplies and things to beat the heat and sun, but this year is different.

"It has been stressful. It's typically odd that someone would order a heater now but we have them going out," said Stewart.

With multiple weddings, private parties, fundraisers, charity walks like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity's Birdfest and other big fundraisers, Stewart's crews have worked lots of overtime helping prepare for rough weather.

"Our guys have done fairly well adapting to that. They are approaching 70 hours of work this week just to get through what we got to get done," said Stewart.

While Stewart says wet weather means more business, he'd rather have good weather because he says customers are always happier when the weather cooperates.
