WENTWORTH, N.C. — A Reidsville man who was sought for allegedly kidnapping and beating a woman has turned himself in to authorities.
Jason Levert Johns, 24, of 1825 Sandy Cross Road, was wanted on charges of first-degree kidnapping and assault inflicting serious injury.
On Monday morning, deputies said the suspect’s burgundy 2002 Crown Victoria was found in Pittsylvania County, Va. — but Johns was nowhere to be found.
Several hours later, deputies said the suspect had turned himself in at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release, deputies said the suspect held the victim against her will, bruised her face, chest and arms, leaving a laceration similar to a bite mark, a laceration above her left eye, facial fractures and a large amount of hair removed from her head.
The alleged beating began around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies said the victim tried running into a store at one point during the attack, but Johns tackled her, kicked her, and forced her back into his car.
