MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — Police arrested the star of a reality show based on the life of tuna fishermen on Tuesday.

David Carmen Marciano, 49, of Massachusetts, is charged with misdemeanor assault on a female.

Marciano, captain of the vessel Hard Merchandise, appears in the National Geographic Channel show “Wicked Tuna.”

Police told the Carteret County News-Times they received a report at about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday that Marciano had pulled the ponytail of a hotel clerk early Monday morning.

The clerk said Marciano appeared to be intoxicated.

Marciano was released on a written promise to appear in court Jan. 28.

Large bluefin tuna landings have been reported recently in the area. This has attracted fisherman from along the East Coast, including the “Wicked Tuna” boats.
