KING, N.C. — Students across the Piedmont participated in “Read Across America Day” on Friday.

The day is set aside to honor Dr. Seuss and use his books to encourage kids to read. FOX 8’s Chad Tucker helped out in his hometown of King, where he read to students at Poplar Springs Elementary and King Elementary, where he learned to read.

“Read Across America Day” is the nation’s largest reading celebration to help students gain a love for reading at an early age.
