RALEIGH, N.C. — An Army veteran in Raleigh smashed a window to rescue a woman who had a seizure in her car, helping save her life.
WTVD-TV reported that former medic Sergio Godoy saved the woman Wednesday morning on I-440 off Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.
Godoy was reportedly on his way to work when he saw the woman swerve off the road and start having convulsions.
He then used his battlefield training to help rescue her and stayed with her until help arrived.
“All the doors were locked,” he said. “I saw she leaned completely over and blood started coming out of her mouth.”
Sergio served two tours in Iraq and is trained for situations like these. He said there is no way he could have kept on driving.
“A lot of people just go on about their business and say whatever will be, will be,” the woman said, during an emotional reunion with Godoy. “We need more people like Sergio, and hopefully one day I can do the same for someone.”
