GREENSBORO, N.C. — The public got the first chance to look inside Greensboro’s new Whole Foods store just days before it opens.

The 34,000 square-foot store takes up part of the Sears space at Friendly Shopping Center. The store’s grand opening is Thursday at 9 a.m.

Among its many features is an in-house smoker, a large bulk-item area with all kinds of spices and a dedicated healthy eating specialist and cooking coach.

Shoppers also will be able to use iPads to look up how to cook certain foods, as well as bring their own containers to fill up.

The store will employ about 120 people.

Grand opening festivities will begin at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and include a continental breakfast in the parking lot and a performance by the North Carolina A&T State University drumline.
