CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Prosecutors announced Thursday that they will not seek the death penalty for Angelo Smith, who is accused of killing his girlfriend Bianca Tanner.
Smith was in handcuffs with his head down inside the courtroom and said nothing at the brief hearing.
Tanner’s remains were discovered in July in a wooded area off Westinghouse Boulevard in southwest Charlotte.
