WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Some high-profile female and African-American Donald Trump supporters campaigned for the Republican presidential nominee in Winston-Salem Friday.

At a campaign stop at the Forsyth County Republican Party Headquarters, they hoped to encourage both demographics to vote for Trump.

Speakers included Lara Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law; Katrina Pierson, National Spokesperson for the Trump campaign; Omarosa Manigault, a former contestant on the Apprentice and the campaign’s Director of African-American Outreach; Lynne Patton, Vice President of the Eric Trump Foundation, and YouTube personalities/video bloggers known as “Diamond and Silk.”

Trump has been criticized in the past for what some see as offensive comments toward women. His daughter-in-law said the critique that he does not respect women is false.

“He’s not biased against anyone,” she said. “He wants the best person for the job and that’s how he’ll run our country. As a woman, I would love nothing more than to see the first female president, but I do not want that to be Hillary Clinton.”

“Diamond and Silk” said they believe Trump is the best candidate.

“We are black, and we are women, and we are voting for Donald J. Trump,” “Diamond” said. “Just because you’re black, you don’t have to vote Democrat.”

They added, “When you come in this country, come in the right way. And you know what, I want you to speak English,” “Diamond” said. “I don’t want you coming over here, illegal, turning the whole town into a Spanish-speaking town…No! This is America…If you can’t assimilate, stay out!”

Pierson said Trump knows what African-Americans most need.

“And that is the absolute reform of education, immigration and trade because you need jobs,” she said.

The group of women also had planned stops Friday in Charlotte and Raleigh.
