GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The production of a popular Christmas story is playing in the Triad this weekend.

The UNCG Opera Theatre is preparing for the opening night of "Amahl and the Night Visitors."

David Holley, UNCG's director of opera, says that the show is a perfect way to introduce people to the performance art.

"Opera has the stereotype of the fat lady with the spear and the breastplate, but this is in English, it's accessible and it's understandable," Holley said.

The 45-minute production will be playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the UNCG Aycock Auditorium, located at 408 Tate Street. It begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday while it starts at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
