HOLLISTER, N.C. — A pregnant woman in Halifax County was shot by her boyfriend Tuesday morning, authorities told WTVD.

The shooting happened in the 1400 block of Mills Road around 4 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said they believe a domestic dispute between the 34-year-old woman and Jimmy Harrison, Jr., led up to the shooting.

A neighbor told WTVD that she woke up to the pregnant woman banging at her door, soaked in blood.

“She was like, ‘Help me, I’ve been shot,'” Kecia Richardson told WTVD.

According to Richardson, the mom had a gunshot wound to the head and the stomach. The woman’s 8-year-old son was shot in the hand.

She was airlifted to the hospital and was listed in serious condition. Her son’s injury was considered non-life-threatening.

Jimmy Harrison, Jr. died at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The names of the two victims have not been released.

Authorities said two other children escaped the home unharmed and are now staying with family.
