GREENSBORO, N.C. — A restaurant the owner says is an “icon of the community” will close its doors this month.
According to the Greensboro News & Record, Bonnie Kay Seafood Restaurant, located at 222 Spur Road, will close on June 27 after 58 years of business.
“It’s been a good, long, hard run,” Owner Bonnie Oliver told the paper. “But it’s played itself out. These are different times we are living in.”
Oliver said some customers, like NASCAR legend Richard Petty, have been coming to the restaurant 30 or 40 years. .
“It’s an icon of the community and I would rather go out on a good note with the customers, employees and community than go out on a bad note,” Oliver said.
